Purpose
The Glenda Price Diversity in Leadership Award has been created in conjunction with the ASCLS Diversity Advocacy Council to promote diversity and inclusion within the Leadership Academy, and ultimately the Society.
Goals
- To encourage participation in and provide funding to individuals who are in under-represented groups within ASCLS and who are accepted for the ASCLS Leadership Academy.
- To develop a pool of talented, diverse and transformative leaders.
- To advance these individuals into leadership roles within all levels of ASCLS and who will, in turn, advocate for diversity for all laboratory professionals.
Award Benefits
The award recipient shall receive up to $1,000 distributed in the following manner:
- Reimbursement for travel and lodging for the annual ASCLS Legislative Symposium or other, similar face-to-face Leadership Academy meeting.
- Reimbursement for travel and lodging for the ASCLS Joint Annual Meeting (JAM).
- This portion of the award may be withheld if the candidate is unable to complete the Leadership Academy program.
Eligible Candidates
Applicants for the award must be individuals who have been accepted into the ASCLS Leadership Academy and who are members of underrepresented racial or ethnic groups, lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender people, people with disabilities, or other groups that have been identified as underrepresented within the leadership ranks of ASCLS.
Application
The award application will consist of:
- Responses to two (2) diversity essay questions contained in this application form
- Score of the completed Leadership Academy Application found at https://ascls.org/participate/leadership-academy
Applications will be blinded for review and due to the nature of the award, recipients may choose to receive it anonymously.
Application deadline is April 15th.

Application is made via email to the ASCLS Executive Vice President attaching Word or PDF files with essays to the following prompts. (500 word limit). By applying the applicants attests that they meet the eligibility requirements detailed above.
